Bear sighting
On Sunday night, an adult black bear visited the Dozier/Spiers deck. Having emptied the bird feeder on the ground, he was apparently after the hummingbird feeder suspended from the second floor balcony. A camera flash caused him to climb from the deck down a tree 15’ to the ground and amble back across the fence and into the woods.
Broadband on Hardwick Mountain
Owners are always wondering what the latest and best available broadband service is here. We’ll gather and publish the options if you’ll send us what you have or know. Of course what works best varies by location on the mountain, so we’ll indicate that (but we won’t use your name if you’d prefer).
If you have broadband and are willing to participate in this research, email as much of the following as you have to kai@hardwickmountain.org
- Provider (e.g., Wild Blue, AT&T, Verizon, etc.)
- Type service (e.g., satellite, cell phone tether, dial-up, wireless mobile card, etc.)
- Average speed and highest speed, download and upload. As you may know, speed can vary by time of day, day of week, weather, etc. So we can compare apples to apples, please use this testing service and respond in Mbps as shown by the site: http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
- Cost (if there are several options and you know what these are, please list)
- Comments about reliability, ease of use, service support, etc.
We’ll share what we have at the annual meeting, and see if there is more data to add. Then we’ll display it all on the website.
